White Named NCBWA National Hitter of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - Sophomore center fielder Charlie White has earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Hitter of the Week honors for his performance against Oakland this past weekend, the association announced Tuesday.
For White, the award comes a day after the sophomore was named Louisville Slugger's National Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week.
In a four-game set against the Golden Grizzlies, White went 10-for-15 (.667) at the plate with three doubles, scored six runs, drove in five runs and stole 10 bases. The sophomore stole four in game one of Friday's doubleheader marking the highest single-game total by a Terrapin since Larry Long swiped four against Howard on April 15, 1998.
White helped the Terrapins steal a program-record 11 bases in game one of Friday's doubleheader and 26 over the entire series. The Terps won all four games against the Grizzlies.
White currently ranks first in steals in the ACC with 10, six more than the next highest total. The Naperville, Ill., native ranks 10th in the ACC with a .458 batting average.
The Terps are in action at James Madison on Wednesday and return home for a four-game series against Princeton on Friday.
