Team Tyler Ticket Package
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland women's basketball team will join forces with Apple Ford Lincoln to present the third annual Team Tyler game Feb. 24 vs. Duke, along with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the There Goes My Hero Foundation.
The Team Tyler Foundation was formed by four honored Maryland players when they learned their former coach's son, Tyler Thomas, had been diagnosed with leukemia. Shay Doron, Laura Harper, Marissa Coleman and Kristi Toliver were recruited to Maryland by head coach Brenda Frese and became legendary figures, winning the 2006 national title. The foursome started the Team Tyler Foundation, which has raised thousands of dollars to help the fight against leukemia. The initial donation from the foundation went directly to the pediatric leukemia unit at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, where Tyler continues to receive treatments.
"From the bottom of my heart to the bottom of the net, I want to thank the kind folks at Apple Ford Lincoln for their support of the fight against leukemia," Frese said. "Together, we're going to help a lot of families and eventually win this fight."
As part of the event, fans can purchase a Team Tyler ticket package for $30. The package includes a lower level ticket, an Under Armour Team Tyler T-shirt, on-camera recognition, a signed 2012-13 team photo and a group shot with head coach Brenda Frese and all package ticket holders. To purchase call the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP or log on to umterps.com/TeamTyler.
The There Goes My Hero foundation, which is based out of Bel Air, Md., works to expand the bone marrow donor registry and find matches for all those diagnosed with leukemia through many support programs. At the Team Tyler game, the There Goes My Hero foundation will be on the 300 level concourse, behind sections 207 and 208, prior to the game to register donors.
Fans can also text TYLER to 64274 to donate now to the Team Tyler Foundation. Normal message and data rates apply.
The Terrapins have also teamed up with Apple Ford Lincoln to present "3's for T." For every 3-pointer the Terps make this season, Apple Ford Lincoln will make a donation to the Team Tyler Foundation. Find out more at www.umterps.com/3-for-t.
