Maryland Makes Debut in CBN Top 30

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Riding a nine-game winning streak, the Maryland baseball team on Monday debuted in the Collegiate Baseball News poll.
The Terps, now 9-3 overall, check in at No. 30 in the Collegiate Baseball News Top 30. Last season, Maryland spent two weeks in the poll and climbed to No. 21.
Maryland is riding the momentum of a nine-game winning streak. After sweeping Oakland in a four-game series at home, the Terps knocked off James Madison in a mid-week clash and swept a four-game set against Princeton last weekend.
The Terrapin bats have played a significant part during the winning streak. Maryland has outscored its three opponents 85-25 and has scored at least eight runs in seven of the nine contests. As team, the Terps are hitting .323 with 30 extra base hits during the stretch.
Additionally, the Terps have been aggressive on the bases. Maryland currently ranks third in the nation in stolen bases with 44 and are averaging 3.67 per game, which also ranks third. Charlie White has been the lynchpin in the running game. White leads the ACC and ranks second nationally with 15 stolen bases.
The Terps return to the diamond on Friday to begin their ACC schedule with a three-game series at Virginia. Maryland returns home on March 12 for a doubleheader against Marist.
