On Keyes: A defensive leader who will battle for the starting assignment at the centerback position … has played in 47 career games … the Terps' elder stateswoman who enters her fifth season in the program … has been a starter throughout her career but missed the entire 1997 season with a knee injury … a starter for the Terps' two all-time winningest teams in school history … Maryland's 1995 squad won 18 games and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament while Maryland's 1996 team won a school-record 19 games and also advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament … among the most experienced Terps in postseason play she has started four ACC Tournament games and four NCAA Tournament games … is tough in the air.
As a Redshirt Junior in 1998: Played in 13 games as a redshirt junior after missing the previous 1 1/2 years with a knee injury … returned to the lineup as a defensive substitution against Penn State on Sept. 4 in the opening game of the season … her return to the field came after missing 39 consecutive games over the final half of the 1996 and the entire 1997 seasons … earned a starting assignment against Southern Cal in the opening round of the Maryland/PUMA Invitational on Sept. 11 … injured her left knee against Southern Cal and was forced to miss the next 10 games before returning to the lineup against William & Mary on Oct. 16 … made a permanent return to the starting lineup against North Carolina on Oct. 23 and started the final eight games of the season … credited with her first career assist against Louisiana State in the Terps' 7-0 victory over the Tigers on Oct. 30.
As a Junior in 1997: Missed the entire 1997 season as a medical redshirt … suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee during the 11th game of the 1996 season and was forced to miss the entire 1997 season.
As a Sophomore in 1996: Started the first 11 games of the season before injuring her left knee against Wake Forest on Sept. 29 … Maryland was undefeated, 11-0, at the time of her injury … the Terps' 11 game-winning streak developed into a school-record 16-game unbeaten streak before Maryland was defeated, 2-0, by NC State on Oct. 19 … she was leading the defensive charge that had allowed three goals in the first 11 games and limited the opposition to 0.26 goals per game … the Keyes-led defense had logged eight shutouts and helped the Terps defeat both No. 19 George Mason on Sept. 24 and No. 22 James Madison on Sept. 13.
As a Freshman in 1995: Starting defender in 23 of Maryland's 24 games as the Terps played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history … earned starting assignments in all three of Maryland's ACC Tournament games and both of the Terps' NCAA Tournament games … started every game but the Terps' 3-0 victory over UMBC on Oct. 10 … a starter on defense in her first collegiate game against Virginia Tech on Sept. 3 … first career shots (two) came at Florida State on Sept. 10 … first career goal came against Old Dominion in the Terps' 6-0 victory at home on Sept. 24.
Before Maryland: A Parade Magazine and National Soccer Coaches Association/Umbro All-American selection as a senior.
Personal: Born Sept. 2, 1977… Tiffany is the daughter of Phyllis and Howard Keyes … major is elementary education.
