Rupp On Ryan: "He could be one of the best defensive catchers in the country right now. He's a catch-and-throw guy with tremendous arm strength. He shuts down the running game for other teams, and he's made strides offensively, as well, this year. He's an impact guy in this conference, in my opinion. Behind the plate, I don't think there are many catchers out there as talented as him. He's definitely a guy that can lead this team to a championship."
As a Junior (2004): Threw out 29.4 percent of attempted base stealers ... allowed only three passed balls in 38 starts at catcher ... hit safely in nine of 11 games between April and May, raising his average 45 points over that span ... went 4-for-7 with four doubles, two RBI and two walks in a two-game series versus Buffalo (3/6-3/7) ... was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk against Georgetown (3/17) ... had a home run and a double in four at-bats versus Duke, collecting one RBI and one run (3/26) ... had hits in all three games of the Virginia series and threw out five of eight attempted base stealers (4/16-4/18) ... drove in a run and had two hits against James Madison (4/27).
As a Sophomore (2003): Improved behind the plate as the season wore on, throwing out
13 of 35 (37.2 percent) attempted base stealers in the second half ... hit .306 in the
team's first 26 games ... threw out four of eight would-be base stealers over a five game
span (April 22 to April 27) ... was among the ACC leaders in batting average for the first
two weeks of the season, including the leading hitter at .442 heading into the series
against Wake Forest ... went 9-for-13 in first three games as a Terp at the Amtrak
Invitational ... went 4-for-4 vs. Stetson
(Feb. 15) ... had a two-RBI pinch-hit
against Marist (March 8) ... had a
game-winning RBI single vs. Navy
(March 25).

to 31 RBI.
