On Lomas: Will play a prominent role for the Terps this season in the infield and on the mound ... starting shortstop who could also be called upon to close out games from the bullpen ... had an excellent fall season both at the plate and in the field.
As a Junior (2000): Led all ACC shortstops in fielding percentage (.950) ... finished the season with a career-high tying six-game hitting streak (May 7-13) ... tied for second on the team with five home runs and was second with 34 RBI ... homered in four of the Terps' final six games ... went 2-for-5 with a run and a RBI against Howard on March 2 ... went 2-for-4 with a RBI against VCU on March 10 ... had a career-high three hits and knocked in a career-high four runs against VCU on March 12 ... had two hits against Florida State on March 27 ... drilled a three-run home run as part of a career-high four-hit performance and a career-high tying four RBI effort against Richmond on March 29 ... drove in a pair of runs against Howard on April 11 ... tied a career-high with three hits, belted a career-high two home runs and drove in a career-high five RBI against NC State on May 7 ... in the series against Duke (May 11-13), he went 5-for-9 (.556) with two home runs and five RBI ... went 2-for-5 with a run, a double and a RBI in the ACC Tournament against Duke on May 16.
At Marist: Hit .297 with three home runs and 29 RBI in his freshman season … decided to transfer in the fall of his sophomore season … in 1998, he compiled a 3-1 record with a 2.98 ERA and three saves … Marist went 32-17 his freshman year and advanced to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) title game … this past summer, he hit .478 in the WBL (Wooden Bat League).
At Immaculate: A four-year all-conference pick at Immaculate … posted a career batting average of .427 and compiled a 22-4 pitching record with a 1.71 ERA … also played basketball and was a three-time all-conference selection … played summer baseball for the Long Island Tigers during high school .
Personal: Born May 28, 1979 … parents are Diane and John Lomas … majoring in criminal justice … chose Maryland because of the baseball program and the academics.
