2002 Update:
• Played in finale at UMBC (5/4), grabbing two groundballs.
• Returned to action vs. Delaware (3/16) after missing four games with patella tendinitis.
• Played late minutes vs. Hobart (2/23).
Capelle: Two-year reserve defenseman who continues to improve with hard work … a smart player and a good student … has good stick work … has improved conditioning and strength.
As a sophomore (2001): Saw action in five games recording two groundballs in season opener against Air Force (2/24) … played at Delaware (3/17), vs. North Carolina (3/24) and at Mount St. Mary's (4/25) … also grabbed two groundballs vs. UMBC (5/5) … member of the Maryland Honor Roll.
As a freshman (2000): Played in two games, seeing action against Delaware (3/15) and UMBC (5/6) … missed early portion of the season with an injury … member of the ACC Honor Roll.
Before Maryland: Three-time letterwinner in lacrosse at Mount St. Joseph in Baltimore, Md.… played under Tony Brockmeyer and assistant coach Kraig Luvis, former Maryland letterwinner (1993-1996) … served as team captain as a senior and named team MVP … corralled 107 groundballs as a senior and was named a Maryland senior all-star … missed junior season because of a broken leg … set school single-season record in groundballs as a sophomore with 114.
