On Brannan: Returns with a host of other freestylers to add to the Terps' depth in those events…enters the 1999-2000 season with the second-best time in the 200-yard freestyle and the third-best time in the 500-yard freestyle.
1998-99 season: Competed in three events for the Terps at the 1999 ACC Championships … Brannan's time of 1:41.24 at the 1999 ACC Championships is the second-best time of any returnee for the Terps in the 200-yard freestyle … he also holds the third-best returning time in the 500-yard freestyle, 4:39.29, which he swam at the conference championships … swam to a fifth-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with Greg Courtois, Greg Kuenle, and P.J. Stojadinovic at the 1999 ACC Championships…finished as high as second during the regular season in the 200-yard freestyle in the meet on Jan. 30… also swam to a second-place finish on against Duke in the 500-yard freestyle.
1997-98 season: Swam on the 800-yard freestyle relay team that placed sixth at the ACC Championships (6:48.44).
1996-97 season: Posted the top men's team time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.79) … competed in the 1997 Chesapeake Bay Swim and finished second in his age group.
Before Maryland: A four-year letterwinner at Loyola … the team captain his senior year … named the Athlete of the Week by the Baltimore Sun.
Personal: Born Aug. 18, 1978 … father is Robert Brannan … majoring in engineering and biology … in the honors program.
