On Madden: A potential scorer in the butterfly events at the conference meet.
As a Freshman (2002-03): Finished fifth in the 200 fly against N.C. State (2:05.52) … came in sixth in the 400 IM against Johns Hopkins, Howard and Wingate (4:32.40) … placed fifth in the 100 fly at Villanova (55.34) … finished eighth in the 200 fly against Pittsburgh (2:02.13) … came in fourth in the 100 fly at Duke (54.06) … placed ninth in the 200 fly against North Carolina and Georgia Tech (1:59.38) … finished seventh in the 200 fly at Virginia (2:01.64) … swam a season-best 51.48 in the 100 fly at the ACC Championships, placing 21st … also swam a season-best 1:56.17 in the 200 fly at the ACC's, finishing 23rd.
Before Maryland: Three-time MVP of high school swim team...member of the student athletic committee at Jesuit High School in Portland...second-place finisher in the 100-fly at the state championships.
Personal: Majoring in biochemistry...recruited by Johns Hopkins, Texas Christian and Kenyon College...born on Oct. 21, 1983...son of Peter and Debi Madden.
