On Starr: Has been a great team swimmer his whole career at Maryland, always helping out in as many ways as he can as he has continued to develop as a swimmer ... very successful year individually last year ... looks for big things in the IM events this year.
As a Junior (2004-05): Established two career bests at the ACC Championships in the 200-free (1:44.75) and the 200-back (1:55.09) ... against Johns Hopkins and Howard finished seventh in both the 200-IM (2:04.54) and the 100-back (56.51) and was part of the third-place 200 free relay team ... finished 13th in the 100-back (57.26), 12th in the 200-IM (2:03.07), eighth in the 200-free relay, seventh in the 400-free relay and 15th in the 400-IM with a career best time of 4:26.24 against Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Florida State ... at the Terrapin Cup Invitational, took 14th in the 200-IM (1:57.14), 18th in the 200-free (1:45.28), 11th in the 200-back (1:56.79) and 24th in the 100-free (49.62) and contributed to the seventh-place 200-free relay, sixth-place 800-free relay, and seventh-place 400-free relay teams ... placed sixth in the 200-IM (1:57.71), eighth in the 50-free (21.97), eighth in the 200-back (1:57.75), and was part of the sixth-place 200-medley relay team and the fifth-place 400-free relay team against Pittsburgh, Villanova and NC State ... came in fifth in the 200-free (1:47.22) and fourth in the 100-free (49.27) vs. Duke ... took eighth in the 100-back (55.24) and was part of the fifth-place 200 medley relay team against North Carolina ... placed fifth in the 200-IM (1:58.15) and was part of the second-place 400-free relay team against the Cavaliers.
As a Sophomore (2003-04): Finished fourth in the 200-IM (2:01.35) and sixth in the 200-breast (2:20.36), and was part of the third-place 400-yard medley relay at N.C. State in the first meet of the season ... took eighth in the 200-IM (2:00.99) and 10th in the 200-breast (2:20.50) against Virginia Tech and Clemson ... placed fourth in the 200-IM (1:59.83) against Johns Hopkins and Howard ... came in sixth in the 200-IM (2:01.04) and seventh in the 200-breast (2:19.62), and was part of the fourth-place 400-medey relay against Duke ... took fourth in the 200-IM (1:58.65) and was part of the fifth-place 400-free relay against Georgia Tech ... finished 20th in the 200-IM (1:58.06), 42nd in the 200-free (1:47.20) and 46th in the 100-free (48.44) at the Terrapin Cup Invitational ... also was part of the 11th-place 200-free relay and the 13th-place 400-free relay ... came in seventh in the 400-IM (4:19.09), 10th in the 200-IM (2:01.77), 11th in the 200-breast (2:17.19) and 13th in the 100-breast (1:03.96) against Pittsburgh, Villanova and Notre Dame ... placed fourth in the 200-IM (1:57.89) and eighth in the 200-back (2:00.54) against North Carolina ... finished fifth in the 200-IM (1:58.02) and seventh in the 200-back (2:00.47), and was part of the fourth-place 400-free relay against Virginia ... established a new career best in the 200-IM (1:54.92) at the ACC Championship.

Before Maryland: Captain of Loyola-Blakefield's swim team his senior year ... All-American consideration in the 400-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay ... former swimmer Brad Schertle was a high school teammate.
