Rachel Stratton was named assistant coach for the University of Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving program in June of 2008.
Prior to the Terps, Stratton was the assistant coach at Dartmouth for both the men's and women's swim teams beginning in 2006. She was responsible for all recruiting duties dealing with the women's program and planned and oversaw workouts for non-freestyle/IM swimmers for the Big Green. Dartmouth swimmers broke more than 20 school records and the squad boasted the highest GPA in the nation during her tenure.
Stratton's other coaching stops include stints with Team Santa Monica (Calif.), Brentwood High School (Calif.) and West Valley Swim Club (Saratoga, Calif.).
She is Level 4 certified by the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) and chaired the Pacific Section subcommittee of Southern California Swimming in 2005 and 2006. Stratton is also a weekly contributor to www.goswim.tv, an online swimming technique magazine, and was a co-organizer in the 2007 Speedo Women's forum at the ASCA World Clinic.
A graduate of UCLA with a bachelor's degree in sociology, she was chair from 2000-2002 of the Bruin Athletic Council, a student-run organization that serves as a liaison between all student-athletes and the athletic department.
