On Giger:A multi-disciplined swimmer, Giger will most likely add depth exclusively for the Terps in the freestyle events.
1999-00 Season: Saw limited action in the freestyle events and the relays ... finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay against Pittsburgh and Villanova …named to the ACC Honor Roll.
Before Maryland: His senior year, Giger earned all-state honors in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, as well as the 200- and 400-yard free relay … as a sophomore and junior, he was named all-state in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly … a three-time recipient of the Distinguished Student-Athlete Award, he was also the Penncrest High School MVP for swimming in 1998 and 1999 … Giger holds school records in events seven events (50-, 100-, 200-, and 500-yard freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke).
