On Young: Young will aid the Terps in the freestyle events.
1998-99 season: Swam six different events for the Terps last season … finished as high as third in the 500-yard freestyle against Virginia Tech at North Carolina on Jan. 30 and against Villanova on Jan. 16 … took third twice in the 1000-yard freestyle … Young swam three events at ACC's as an exhibition competitor.
1997-98 season: Posted times of 1:00.53 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:12.18 in the 200-yard breaststroke at the ACC Championships.
1996-97 season: Recorded times of 1:01.94 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:13.61 in the 200-yard breaststroke at the ACC Championships.
Before Maryland: A four-year letterwinner at Annandale and the team captain his senior year … named all-district three years and all-region twice … also played lacrosse in the spring.
Personal: Born Jan. 25, 1979 … parents are Jan and Hal Young … majoring in marketing.
