As a Freshman (2009-10): Finished 18th in the 200 free (1:45.22) to help guide Maryland to the 2009 Terrapin Cup title.
Before Maryland: Four-year letterwinner for coach Dow Needham at Durham School of the Arts...also played first base for the Bulldogs' baseball team...picked up second and third place finishes in the 100 and 200 free, respectively, at the state championships...DSA record holder in the 100 and 200 free...all-conference swimmer and team MVP his junior and senior years...also a member of Duke Aquatics.
Personal: Son of Gregory and Sharon Hale...has one sister, Lindsay...lists his sports hero as Dustin Pedroia and his craziest ambition as owning the Boston Red Sox...was Chemistry Student of the Year for 2007-08 school year...Letters & Sciences major.
