BALTIMORE - Maryland men's basketball head coach Mark Turgeon and former head coach Gary Williams participated in the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation's fourth annual College Basketball Tip-off luncheon and fundraiser Friday. Numerous former and current college basketball coaches joined the panel, where coaches discussed and shared stories on their experiences, past successes, as well as their teams' upcoming season.
In addition to Turgeon and Williams, who now serves as the Senior Managing Director for Alumni Relations and Athletic Development at Maryland, the panel included moderator and ESPN analyst Jay Bilas, Villanova head coach Jay Wright, Siena head coach Jimmy Patsos, Temple head coach Fran Dunphy and National Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr.
All proceeds from the luncheon benefited the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation's programming and initiatives for at-risk youth across the United States. The Ripken Foundation aims to help foster character and teach life lessons to disadvantaged youth in America's most distressed communities through baseball and softball themed programs.
