Brown, Peck, Wesneski Capture TCNJ Open Titles

EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Sophomore Shyheim Brown (141), sophomore Dawson Peck (285) and freshman Garrett Wesneski (197) captured titles at the The College of New Jersey Open Saturday.
In addition to the Terrapins' three championships, Billy Rappo (133) and Frank Goodwin (149) finished third. Toby Hague (157), Arashdeep Gill (174) and Chanse Menendez (184) all finished in the top-6 of their respective weight classes.
Brown began his path to the championship with a fall victory in the first round and a 3-1 win over Max Good of Bloomsburg in the semifinals. The 2014 NCAA qualifier knocked off Rutgers' Tyson Dippery, 4-3, in the final.
A Pennsylvania native, Wesneski notched a decision and quick fall to make the finals, where he defeated Nate Leer of The College of New Jersey, 6-2, in the finals to win his first-ever open title.
Peck, a 2014 NCAA qualifier for Chattanooga, notched two falls and a decision on the way to his title bout. Peck shutout Wesley Bernard of Rutgers, 4-0, to come away with the title.
Seeing his first action of the season, Goodwin was tripped up in the semifinals by eventual champion Ken Theobold of Rutgers. The senior would go on to win two matches in the consolation bracket to finish third.
Rappo lost a tough opening match to Chase Zemanak of Bloomsburg before ripping off three consolation bracket wins to place third.
