
Ripken, Terps Usher in 2014 Season

Ripken closed the event by discussing with the audience the fundamentals and life lessons imparted upon him by his father, Cal Ripken, Sr.
Prior to Ripken's keynote address, head coach John Szefc thanked various Maryland baseball supporters and introduced the 35 members of the 2014 squad. During the introductions, Szefc recognized Andrew Amaro and Ben Brewster. Amaro and Brewster were voted most improved positional player and most improved pitcher, respectively, by the team at the conclusion of fall practice.
The Terps open the season Feb. 14-16 at 23rd-ranked Florida, then return to College Park for their home opener against Rider on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. The Terps first home series is set for Feb. 21-23 against Bryant.
