COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Major League Baseball on FOX reporter and senior baseball writer and MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal helped the Maryland baseball team and its supporters celebrate the start of the 2015 season with its annual leadoff banquet Saturday night at Riggs Alumni Center.
Before Rosenthal's remarks, Maryland head coach John Szefc addressed the group about the upcoming season.
"This dinner is always a good leadoff to our season, a good momentum-builder as we look to forward to our season opener," Szefc said. "Last year these guys established the team's brand nationally. Now we are looking to keep that going and add to it."
Rosenthal, who as served as the lead field reporter for FOX's coverage of Major League Baseball since 2005, expressed his excitement of the Terps' prospects for the 2015 campaign.
"You guys have a special chance here to do something big,” Rosenthal said. “And while things might happen to you in the future that are really great, you can't focus on that now. You can't control what has happened in the past either. What you can control is that next pitch, or that next at bat and how you approach it. What you guys control is this 2015 season in front of you. This is where it's at, right here, right now, at the University of Maryland. Have a great season guys."
Maryland opens its 2015 campaign Feb. 13 at the Caravelle Resort Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Terps will play four games in three days against Western Kentucky, Canisius, Old Dominion and Coastal Carolina.
Season tickets are now available. Season ticket purchasers will receive a 50 percent discount over single-game ticket prices. Fans can purchase season tickets by clicking here or by calling the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP (462-8377).
