COLLEGE PARK, MD – The No. 68 Maryland women's tennis team continued its 2015 spring season at the ITA Season Kickoff in Gainesville, Fla, Sunday, facing off against No. 2 Florida.
Maryland (1-1,0-0 Big Ten) could not get anything going against the Gators, falling by a final score of 4-0.
In doubles, the team of Josie Kuhlman and Peggy Porter gave Florida the advantage with a 6-2 win over Olivia Gaudreault and Alexandra Stanova. Terps duo Welma Luus and Nataliya Bredikhina lost to Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan, 6-3, sealing the point for Florida.
The Gators controlled singles play, winning every match in straight sets. Florida secured the match in lower spots in the lineup. At No.4 Belinda Woolcock defeated Terp Kristina Hovsepyan, 6-2, 6-0. While at the No. 6 spot, Florida's Spencer Liang won over Cassandre Thebault, 6-1, 6-2.
To clinch the victory for Florida, Brianna Morgan took down Ekaterina Tour, 6-1, 6-4.
