
Terps Ranked No. 16 by Baseball America

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland baseball team is No. 16 in Baseball America's preseason rankings, released Monday.
The Terps are the highest ranked Big Ten program in the poll. The top-five is made up of Vanderbilt, LSU, Houston, Virginia and Texas Tech.
Maryland boasts a strong cast of returners heading into one of the most anticipated seasons in school history. Freshman All-Americans infielder Brandon Lowe and pitcher Mike Shawaryn return along with regular starters Jose Cuas, Kevin Martir and LaMonte Wade. Lowe batted .348 last season and tied Cuas for the team lead in RBIs (42).
Shawaryn set the program record in wins last year with 11 and an ERA of 3.12. Kevin Mooney, who notched a program record 13 saves last season, also returns for Maryland.
