GETTYSBURG, Va. - Alexandra Lucki ran 21:50.6 to cross the line first and win the 6k Gettysburg Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Lucki's victory was the highlight of a spectacular team performance that saw seven Maryland runners finish in the top-20. The victory was the first of Lucki's collegiate career.
Pack running during the early part of the race allowed the group to start working on strategy heading into the championship season. Junior Sydney Almeida placed fourth (22:33.5) while Katie Nappi finished sixth in 22:36.4.
Freshman Kiernan Keller took ninth in 22:55.6 before Karah O'Halloran, who rounded out the scoring with a 15th-place finish in 23:24.6. Charde Barnes, Alexa Squirini and Jackie Clark also finished in top-20 spots for the Terps.
Catherine Sheffo, Charlotte Staver and Gaby Go also put forth solid performances for the Terps.
Maryland scored a total of 35 points. The Terps return to action in two weeks at the Big Ten Championships at Northwestern on Nov. 1.
