COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland wrestling head coach Kerry McCoy named seniors Geoffrey Alexander and Lou Mascola, along with redshirt freshman Alfred Bannister, as captains for the 2015-16 season.
“These guys are great representatives of our program,” head coach Kerry McCoy said. “They all bring different things that make our program better.”
Alexander, a three-time NCAA qualifier, holds 86 career wins and is nationally ranked by all major polls entering the season. Mascola qualified for his first NCAA Championships last season at 157 pounds and also placed at the Midlands.
Bannister enters his redshirt freshman campaign after a 37-win debut season. That total led Maryland. Bannister was a four-time Maryland state champion in high school and finished his career as the winningest high school wrestler in Maryland prep history.
Maryland begins its season this Sunday at the sixth annual Terrapin Duals on Sunday at the XFINITY Center. The Terps will take on Pittsburgh (11:45 a.m.), Buffalo (1:30 p.m.) and Davidson (3:15 p.m.).
