Get to know Ari Jarvis:
What attracted you to the University of Maryland?
Definitely the campus as a whole. There is so much spirit here and not to mention the beauty of the campus. When I decided to commit to Maryland I knew right away that I wanted UMD to be my second home. The softball team has so much drive and it was something I was craving to be a part of.
How has your first semester at Maryland been so far?
My first semester has been really good. The team is very welcoming and our coaching staff has been amazing. Its exactly what I hoped it would be.
What is your favorite memory from playing softball?
A have a lot of favorite memories but if I were to pick one it would be playing with my best friend and twin sister in the Premier National Championship game in 2012 and 2014.
What made you become a pitcher?
I think everyone at a young age was a pitcher or catcher. I was a lot bigger than the average kid which gave me an advantage. I liked the pressure and satisfaction that came with the position so I stuck with it.
How has it been getting to know your teamates?
I've gotten to know my teammates really well. Our coaches have emphasized creating a family atmosphere and that has definitely come out this year.
What is one thing you really like about yourself?
My hair.
Are you a good cook, what's your favorite thing to make?
I would like to consider myself a good cook. I love making cucumber salad and grilled cheese with bacon.
What is the best vacation you have ever taken?
Going to Cape Cod with my family this past summer.
