#10 Terps upend Notre Dame in third round

• Despite playing a man down for the final 12 minutes, No. 10 seed Maryland upended No. 7 Notre Dame, 2-1, Sunday afternoon to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2015 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.

• Ivan Magalhaes and Eryk Williamson both notched goals for Maryland (12-5-5) which won its sixth consecutive match. Senior Mael Corboz accounted for two assists to move his season tally to 12, the most for a Terrapin in a single season since Stephen King (13) in 2007.

• The Terps have now advanced to the Elite Eight 14 times, including three trips in the last four seasons.

• Clemson boasts a 17-2-2 record heading into Friday's match against Maryland. The Tigers went 3-1-1 in games against teams who eventually also advanced to the Elite Eight, including wins over sixth-seeded Syracuse and Boston College, and a draw vs. top seed Wake Forest.

• Senior forward TJ Casner leads the team with 10 goals, including six game-winners. Junior goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell has allowed just 17 goals in 21 games. He saved a total of 69 shots and secured 8 shutout victories.

• The Tigers defeated Elon, 5-2, in the second round before utilizing a late goal to edge UC Santa Barbara, 3-2, on Sunday in the round-of-16.

• After scoring a league-high 10 goals a year ago, Mael Corboz has transformed his game in 2015 as the squad's top assist man.

• The First Team All-Big Ten selection notched two helpers in the win at Notre Dame on Sunday and boasts 12 on the year. He is two-shy of tying the single-season record.

Williamson Coming on strong

• After going the first 16 games of his Terrapin career without a goal, freshman Eryk Williamson has been instrumental to the Terps' offensive success as of late.

• The Alexandria, Va., native boasts six goals in the last six games, including the game-winner against Notre Dame on Sunday. Williamson was tabbed to the Big Ten Championship All-Tournament Team after recording two goals on the weekend.

• Maryland captured its fourth-straight conference tournament crown when it upended top-seeded Ohio State, 2-0, in Columbus.

• Goalkeeper Cody Niedermeier and midfielder Tsubasa Endoh were named Most Valuable Defensive and Offensive Player of the tournament, respectively. Eryk Williamson joined the duo on the all-tournament team. The rookie forward has four goals in the last four games.

• Sunday's championship is Maryland's 32nd conference title overall and eighth tournament crown.

challenging, familiar road to cup

• Maryland has faced two of its former fellow Atlantic Coast Conference foes in this year's NCAA tournament, including 2014 national champion Virginia and 2013 national champion Notre Dame.

• Maryland - which faces ACC member Clemson Friday - could potentially play two additional ACC opponents as Boston College, #6 seed Syracuse and #1 Wake Forest remain in the postseason field.

six Terps snag all-B1g honors

• Senior Mael Corboz led a group of six Terrapins who earned All-Big Ten Conference Men's Soccer postseason awards.

• Corboz was tabbed a first team selection for the second consecutive season. Senior Tsubasa Endoh, juniors Alex Crognale and Chris Odoi-Atsem and freshman Sebastian Elney all garnered second team honors. Eryk Williamson joined fellow classmate Elney on the All-Freshman team.

• Corboz, a midfielder from Green Brook, N.J., played in all 17 matches for the Terps in 2015, racking up a team-high nine assists and adding a pair of goals. The senior captain was also named a Senior CLASS candidate early this season.

• Endoh picked up his first career all-conference honor after scoring three goals and adding four assists while playing in all 17 matches in the midfield for Maryland. The Tokyo-native posted a team-high two game-winning goals in 2015.

• Crognale and Odoi-Atsem helped guide the Terps to eight shutouts this season, including clean sheets against #4 Notre Dame and #17 Washington in addition to conference foes Michigan, Michigan State and Indiana. Crognale, who hails from Gahanna, Ohio, also racked up a career-high two goals. It was the second straight all-conference nod for Odoi-Atsem, a defender from Mitchellville, Md.

• Elney paced the Terps offensively as a rookie in 2015, posting a team-high six goals and adding a pair of assists. A forward from Boca Raton, Fla., Elney's overtime game-winner against then-No. 1 UCLA has been viewed nearly 370,000 times online.

• Williamson has played in all 17 matches for the Terrapins, notching 16 starts. He picked up his first two career goals in a pivotal win against No. 16 Rutgers to close the regular season. The Alexandria, Va., native has also posted three assists this season.

• Additionally, junior goalkeeper Cody Niedermeier was named a Sportsmanship Award honoree.
