
Schmeiser Tabbed As Big Ten Player Of The Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Maryland junior Lindsey Schmeiser was named Big Ten Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday. Schmeiser's honor marks Maryland softball's first-ever weekly award as members of the Big Ten conference.
The Dunkirk, Md. native posted a .833 batting average, .857 on-base percentage and 2.000 slugging percentage while leading the Terps to a double header sweep against Lafayette this past Sunday. Schmeiser went 5-for-6 at the plate driving in five runs, while recording three extra-base hits through two games this weekend.
Maryland racked a 9-1 victory in the first game against Lafayette. Schmeiser led the game off with a solo shot to center, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scoring twice. In the nightcap, she went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs, while scoring three times, as Maryland won 14-0.
On the season, the infielder is hitting .318 batting average, .390 on-base percentage and .565 slugging percentage. She is second on the team with 22 RBIs and 11 extra-base hits.
Sara Groenewegen of Minnesota and Rebecca Hall of Rutgers were named Pitcher of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
Maryland (17-9) returns to the diamond tomorrow, for a double header against St. Francis at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Maryland Softball Stadium.
