
Schmeiser Named ECAC South Region Player Of The Week

DANBURY, Conn. -- Maryland junior Lindsey Schmeiser was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division 1 South Player of the Week the organization announced Tuesday. The honor marks the junior's second honor this week as Schmeiser was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday.
The Dunkirk, Md. native posted a .833 batting average, .857 on-base percentage and 2.000 slugging percentage while leading the Terps to a double header sweep against Lafayette this past Sunday. Schmeiser went 5-for-6 at the plate driving in five runs, while recording three extra-base hits through two games this past weekend.
Maryland racked a 9-1 victory in the first game against Lafayette. Schmeiser led the game off with a solo shot to center, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scoring twice. In the nightcap, she went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs, while scoring three times, as Maryland won 14-0.
On the season, the infielder is hitting .318 batting average, .390 on-base percentage and .565 slugging percentage. She is second on the team with 22 RBIs and 11 extra-base hits.
Jailyn Ford and Megan Good of James Madison both earned ECAC D-I South Pitcher of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
Maryland (17-11) opens its Big Ten conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Iowa.
