Three Terps Set for NCAA Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland senior Spencer Myers (285 pounds) and redshirt juniors Geoffrey Alexander (133) and Lou Mascola (157) will compete at the 2015 NCAA Wrestling Championships at Scottrade Center in St. Louis March 19-21.

Championships Finals
• ESPN will provide comprehensive coverage of the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. For the second consecutive year, all six sessions will be televised and every match carried on ESPN3 throughout the entire three-day competition.
• ESPN will televise the semifinals (March 20) and finals (March 21) in prime time and ESPNU will televise the first, second (March 19) and quarterfinals (March 20), in addition to the medal round (March 21). ESPN3 will carry individual mat feeds throughout the entire tournament including the return of Off the Mat during the Championships finals. Additionally, for computer users, ESPN3 will once again offer multi-mat, simultaneous viewing which allows fans to watch up to four different mats at one time.
• Both the television and ESPN3 content will be available on WatchESPN.

Alexander the great
• Redshirt junior Geoffrey Alexander has spent the majority of the season in the top-20 of most national polls.
• Alexander notched his biggest win of his season on Jan. 11 against returning All-American No. 9 Mason Beckman.
• He qualified for nationals after a 12th-place finish at the Big Ten Championships.
• Alexander is now a three-time NCAA qualifier having previously competed at the championships in 2012 and 2013. He is 3-4 all-time.
myers matters
• Heavyweight Spencer Myers is 7-5 since his return to the mat in January. He sits at No. 12 in InterMat's individual rankings.
• An All-American, Myers has qualified for the NCAA Championships in each of his non-redshirt seasons. He went 24-6 last year and is a two-time ACC Champion.
• Myers qualified for nationals with a seventh-place finish at the Big Ten Championships.
• Myers missed the opening part of the season while competing for the Maryland football team. He played in all 13 games at defensive end and notched 18 tackles.
Steamrolla' Mascola
• Redshirt junior Lou Mascola has won 12 of his final 17 matches of the regular season after starting the season 2-6.
• In the span, he won the award for the fastest fall at the Midlands Championships with a pin in just 0:22.
• Mascola earned a nationals birth with an eighth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships. This will mark his first appearance at the NCAA Championships.

Enter Eiter
• Former Penn head coach Rob Eiter is in his first season as an assistant coach, joining fifth-year assistant Mike Catullo and volunteer assistant Josh Asper on the coaching staff.
• Eiter produced four All-Americans in his six years as head coach at Penn. Eiter also served the Quakers as an assistant for three seasons.
• A 1991 graduate of Arizona State, Eiter's glittering international credentials are highlighted by an eighth-place finish at the 1996 Olympics Games in Atlanta. Eiter also was a standout international coach, guiding the 1999 United State women's team to a first-place finish at the World Championships.
