
Terps To Host Skills Competition During Ohio State Series. Register Today!

COLLEGE PARK, Md.--Head coach Courtney Scott Deifel and the Maryland softball team will host the 'Show Your Colors Softball Skills Competition' during the inaugural Big Ten home series against Ohio State on Mar. 27-29. Elementary and middle school age fast pitch softball players are invited to showcase their hitting, pitching and catching skills, in a fun competition at the Maryland Softball Stadium.
Participants are invited to register for either the either the hitting, pitching or catching category as competitors are limited to competition in one of the three categories. Entry in the Show Your Colors Softball Skills Competition is limited to three participants per travel organization and or School. Each participant must have a parent/guardian accompanying them at the competition and game.
Registration is now open! The first 25 participants in each category will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
The first round of competition will take place starting from 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, at the Maryland Softball Stadium. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. All participants must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at registration to sign a mandatory waiver. Finalists will advance to the final round on Sunday, March 29 at 10:00 a.m. to compete at the Maryland Softball Stadium.
If time permits players may also compete in the hitting contest. Each competition will be as follows:
- Hitting – Each player receive ten front tossed pitches to hit. Points will be earned depending on the distance the hit travels. The three individuals with the most points will advance.
- Pitching – Each pitcher will receive twenty pitches to hit four target spots. Points will be earned based on pitch accuracy. The three individuals with the most points will move on to the final round. ***Each pitcher MUST bring their own catcher. The catcher must be at least 18 years old and be a family member or coach of the competing pitcher. ***
- Catching – Each catcher will be given three throws to first, second, and third base. The three catchers with the lowest average pop time will move on to the final round.
The winner of each competition will be recognized during the Maryland Softball game held on Sunday, March 29 as the Terps host Ohio State.
Each winner will receive a Maryland Softball Prize Pack!
