
#22 Terps Host National Power Cal State Fullerton

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 22 Maryland baseball team is set for a three-game series with national power Cal State Fullerton at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium this weekend.
First pitch for game one is set for 7 p.m. Friday and will be broadcast live on BTN.
*Due to an on-campus event Sunday, fans are encouraged avoid Lot 1 and to park in the Regents Drive Garage.

• Maryland used a three-run ninth inning to overcome Liberty, 6-4, on Wednesday. Junior right fielder Anthony Papio provided the single that tied the game.
• This will be Maryland's first-ever meeting with Cal State Fullerton.
• Sophomore second baseman Brandon Lowe and sophomore right handed pitcher Mike Shawaryn were named to the 60-player midseason USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Watch List. The award is given to the top amatuer baseball player in the country.
• Lowe currently leads the Big Ten in average (.370), slugging (.674), on-base percentage (.489), runs scored (42), hits (50) and home runs (9). The Suffolk, Va., native is 10th in the nation in runs and 25th in slugging.
• After setting the Maryland single-season record for wins last season, Shawaryn has accumulated eight victories already this season, good enough for tops in the country. His 19 career wins are the most for any sophomore in the nation. He earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time this season on April 13. With a win Friday, he will tie John Rayne (1989-92) for the all-time school wins record with 20.
• In its first year in the Big Ten, Maryland has put together an offensive performance that paces the conference. The Terrapins lead the league in slugging percentage (.440), on-base percentage (.387), runs scored (246), home runs (33) and walks (163).
• Maryland's pitching staff has been mowing opposing batters down all season. The Terps lead the Big Ten with 299 strikeouts on the season, including 101 struck out looking, also a conference high.
• Catcher Kevin Martir has been outstanding at the plate this season. The junior is fifth in the conference in average (.357), third in slugging (.563), third on OBP (.457) and 1th in RBIs (26).
• Alex Robinson has been untouchable this season in relief. The junior has not given up an earned run over 15.0 innings of work and has 20 strikeouts.
• Kevin Mooney notched his fourth save of the season against Liberty to move his all-time Maryland career saves record to 26 The record was previously held by Brett Cecil. Mooney broke the record with a save against Minnesota on March 21.
