Maryland Heads to Illinois This Weekend

COLLEGE PARK, MD. – The No. 75 Maryland women's tennis team competes on the road this weekend at Illinois on Saturday at noon as the Terps continue their trek through the Big Ten.
Maryland (9-9, 2-5 Big Ten) will face the Fighting Illini for the first time in Big Ten conference play with the series tied at 1-1.
Maryland travels to Urbana, Ill. with No. 62 ranked doubles pair Welma Luus and Ekaterina Tour. The pair have defeated their last three Big Ten opponents from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio State.
In singles play, Alexandra Stanova has won her last four out of five matches in the No. 1 position by a combined score of 54-21. Olga Bredikhina will compete to extend her singles winning streak to three matches after taking down opponents from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Fighting Illini return home after six conference matches on the road. They return home with an overall record of 7-9 and conference record of 0-5.
Illinois boast the 8-3 doubles duo of Melissa Kopinski and Louise Kwong. Singles play will see, Jerricka Boone, Alexis Casati and Grace Tapak who have notched six victories each this season.
