RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - Freshman David Kocher of the Maryland men's golf team wrapped up the season at the NCAA Regionals at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Saturday.
Kocher went seven-over in Saturday's final round to finish 12-over on the weekend. He tied for 57th.
"David had a fantastic freshman campaign," head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. "Although he didn't have his best game this week, qualifying for the NCAA Regionals as a freshman is a huge accomplishment. He was our best and most consistent player all year. With all of our returnees and a solid incoming freshman class our goal is to qualify as a team in 2016."
Kocher was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team earlier this monrhg and was also awarded a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Kocher was named to the All-Big Ten Tournament Team after finishing tied for third in the Big Ten Championship.
The rookie picked up four top-10 finishes and seven in the top 20 in the Terps' 10 tournaments on the year.
