• With its 4-2 win over Indiana in Saturday's semifinal, Maryland advanced to its second consecutive conference tournament final. The Terrapins faced Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament championship game last season.
• In the opening round, Maryland defeated fifth-seeded Michigan State, 2-1, before taking out top-seeded Illinois by the same score in the second round. Dating back to last season, the Terrapins have won seven of their last nine postseason games.
• Maryland dropped 2-of-3 games to Michigan in Ann Arbor earlier this season. Sophomore Mike Shawaryn led the Terps to a victory in game one of a Saturday doubleheader before Michigan rebounded to win the final two games of the series.
• Michigan leads the all-time series 10-5.
• Shawaryn was recently named a semifinalist for the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award, given to the best amateur baseball player in the country. The Carneys Point, N.J., native is also a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Award, which is given to the nation's best collegiate baseball player.
• Sophomore second baseman Brandon Lowe ranked among the best hitters in the Big Ten during the regular season. A first team All-Big Ten selection, Lowe leads the conference in total bases (129), and is third in RBIs (51), slugging percentage (.589) and on-base percentage (.451).
• Junior catcher Kevin Martir a Johnny Bench Award semifinalist, is in the top-15 in the conference in both slugging (.502) and OBP (.426). Martir's 41 RBIs ranked tenth in the Big Ten and he smacked seven home runs, good enough for ninth in the conference during the regular season. He was named to the All-Big Ten Third Team.
• Junior Jose Cuas earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors. Cuas' 11 home runs and 51 RBIs both ranked third in the Big Ten during the regular season. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native is fifth in the conference in runs scored (49) and served as a steady presence on the hot corner throughout the year.
• Kevin Mooney has earned three saves in three games of the Big Ten Tournament. Mooney holds a 0.00 ERA and has struck out seven over five innings in the tournament.
