
Mooney Earns Academic All-District Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland junior RHP Kevin Mooney earned first-team Capital One Academic All-District II honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
Mooney has been a stellar performer on the field and in the classroom throughout his career in College Park. This season, the junior leads the Terps with five saves and holds a 1.31 ERA with 25 strikeouts. The Forest Hill, Md., native is the school record holder in saves with 27.
Mooney currently carries a 3.63 GPA in Geographical Sciences. He is one of four Big Ten players to receive the honor.
Mooney is the second straight Terp to receive All-District distinction. Kyle Convissar received the honor last season. To be a candidate for the award, a player must have cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better and be a starter or key reserve on his team.
