
Walker-Kimbrough, USA Take Silver in Pan Am Games

TORONTO, Ont. – Junior guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the Maryland women's basketball team and Team USA took silver in the Pan American Games Monday night. The Americans fell to the host-nation, Canada, 81-73.
The U.S. held a double-digit lead in the first half, then Canada got hot to start the second to take the lead for good. In her first appearance with USA Basketball, Walker-Kimbrough averaged 10.2 points, 2.6 rebounds with nine steals and seven assists through the five-game the tournament. She started the final three games.

Junior center Brionna Jones won gold with USA Basketball in the World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea last week. Team USA went 6-0 in the tournament and beat Canada, 82-64, Monday in the Gold Medal match. Jones added four points, two assists and two steals in the final. In her first experience with USA Basketball, Jones averaged 7.7 points, 4.8 rebounds with five steals in the six-game tournament.
Including Jones and Walker-Kimbrough 10 Terrapins have played for their respective national teams under two-time Big Ten Coach of the Year Brenda Frese, eight on U.S. national squads.
