Pro Terps Report: Cuas Flashes the Power

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland baseball currently has a number of former players in Major League organizations. Each week we will take a look at how they are progressing in their pro seasons.
Major League Baseball
Brett Cecil, LHP, Toronto Blue Jays
Stats: 3-4, 3.68 ERA, 36.2 IP, 41 K, 12 BB, 5 SV
Highlights: Cecil earned the win in his last outing, tossing a scoreless inning against the Yankees. The left-hander hasn't given up an earned run since June 24, a streak that spans 15 appearances. Toronto leads the AL East by a game over the Yankees.
Justin Maxwell, OF, San Francisco Giants
Stats: .220/.283/.363, 25 R, 25 RBIs, 7 HR.
Highlights: Maxwell's Giants sit three and a half games back of the Dodgers in the race for the NL West. Maxwell has recorded hits in three of his last five games.
Double-A
Jimmy Reed, LHP, Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals)
Stats: 6-6, 3.63 ERA, 3 CG, 119.0 IP, 80 SO, 20 BB.
Highlights: Reed has earned no decisions in his last three starts for Springfield. The Cardinals currently top their division in the Texas League.
Adam Kolarek, LHP, Binghamton Mets (New York Mets)
Stats: 2-1, 4.07 ERA, 55.1 IP, 51 SO, 23 BB, 1 SV.
Highlights: Kolarek nabbed a win with one scoreless inning of work against Altoona on August 11. Binghamton sits in second place in the Eastern League's East Division.
Single-A
Jake Stinnett, RHP, South Bend Cubs (Full-Season, Chicago Cubs)
Stats: 5-4, 4.52 ERA, 91.2 IP, 67 SO, 45 BB
Highlights: Stinnett picked up his fifth win of the season against Clinton on August 8. The righty tossed seven innings of one-run ball and struck out six. South Bend is a game under .500 and sits in fifth in the Midwest League's Eastern Division.
Kevin Mooney, RHP, Auburn Doubledays (Short-Season, Washington Nationals)
Stats: 0-0, 6.39 ERA, 12.2 IP, 7 K.
Highlights: Mooney threw two scoreless innings on August 2 against Hudson Valley.
Rookie League
Blake Schmit, SS, GCL Twins (Minnesota Twins)
Stats: .253/.368/.354, 11 R, 14 RBIs, 3 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR.
Highlights: Schmit is batting .353 with an OBP of .421 since rejoining the GCL Twins.
Kevin Martir, Catcher, Greeneville Astros (Houston Astros)
Stats: .207/.363/.232, 8 R, 13 RBIs, 2 2B, 19 BB.
Highlights: Martir's Astros lead Appalachian League went by a game over Kingsport.
LaMonte Wade, Outfielder, Elizabethton Twins (Minnesota Twins)
Stats: .301/.407/.506, 25 R, 35 RBIs, 7 2B, 3 3B, 7 HR, 28 BB.
Highlights: Wade continues to sparkle in his debut professional season. The centerfielder leads Elizabethton in most major offensive categories and his 35 RBIs rank second in the Appalachian League. Wade's 28 walks are the second highest mark in the league.
Jose Cuas, 3B, Helena Brewers (Milwaukee Brewers)
Stats: .246/.314/.413, 27 R, 25 RBIs, 11 2B, 5 HR, 5 SB
Highlights: Cuas registered the finest game of his debut season with a two home run, three hit, four RBI performance against Idaho Falls on August 9.
Alex Robinson, LHP, Elizabethton Twins (Minnesota Twins)
Stats: 0-2, 8.64 ERA, 8.1 IP, 11 K.
Highlights: Made his first appearance since July 20 last night and tossed 1 and a third innings.
Zach Morris, LHP, Golf Coast League Phillies (Philadelphia Phillies)
Stats: 2-0, 3.52 ERA, 7.2 IP, 8 K.
Highlights: Morris moved his record to 4-1 with a win on August 5. The left hander holds a season low ERA of 3.31 and has struck out 18.
Jake Drossner, LHP, Helena Brewers (Milwaukee Brewers)
Stats: 2-1, 4.50 ERA, 30.0 IP, 31 K
Highlights: Drossner picked up his second career win in a nine-strikeout performance against Great Falls on August 2.
