Box Score IOWA CITY, Iowa – Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 19 points, Brionna Jones had 15 points and 11 rebounds and No. 8 Maryland rolled past Iowa in a 76-56 win on Sunday.
Kristen Confroy added 11 points, including nine from beyond the arc, and the Terrapins forced 16 turnovers to snap Iowa's 25-game home winning streak in Maryland coach Brenda Frese's return to her home state.
The Terrapins (14-2, 3-1 Big Ten) have won two straight since falling to No. 5 Ohio State on Jan. 2.
Maryland led wire-to-wire, but used a 14-4 run in the third quarter to pull away from Iowa. Jones scored seven of her 15 points during that key stretch. Brene Moseley, Tierney Pfirman and Brianna Fraser each posted nine points as the Terps relied on a balanced attack against the Hawkeyes.
The Terps shot 53.3 percent from 3-point range, including 60 percent in the second half, while holding Iowa to just 18.2 percent from behind the arc. Maryland shot 46.8 percent from the field in the game.
Iowa - the best free throw shooting team in the Big Ten - made only 12 of 21 from the foul line.
Frese is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which is less than 26 miles from the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City. The Terrapins visited her parents' home Saturday night and spent the evening with her family, friends and high school coach, Paul James. Frese helped lead her Washington High School team to its first-ever state title in her senior season.
Chloe Pavlech made her 50th career start and Tierney Pfirman made her 100th career appearance as a Terrapin in Sunday's contest.
Next, the Terrapins will hit the road again to take on Michigan (9-5, 1-2) Thursday at 6 p.m. ET in Ann Arbor. The Terps-Wolverines matchup will be televised around the world on the Big Ten Network, the BTN2Go app and BTN2Go.com.
The Terps will return home to host No. 16 Northwestern (12-3, 1-2) Sunday, Jan. 17 at noon at the XFINITY Center.
The Terrapins will be giving away the Tierney Pfirman bobblehead at the Northwestern game.
