MLS SuperDraft Set for Thursday in Baltimore

BALTIMORE - The 2016 Major League Soccer SuperDraft kicks off right down the road in Baltimore beginning at 1 p.m. on MLSSoccer.com. Rounds three and four will be held via conference call on January 19.

Tsubasa Endoh and Ivan Magalhaes were among 59 NCAA Division I college players who participated in the 2016 adidas MLS Player Combine. Top collegiate players from across the country showcased their talents in front of representatives from all 20 MLS clubs in Fort Lauderdale, Florida last week.

Endoh was a four-year standout midfielder for Maryland, garnering second team All-Big Ten honors as a senior this season. The Tokyo, Japan, native recorded five goals and six assists and was vital to Maryland's late season success, including landing Big Ten Tournament Most Valuable Offensive Player honors while leading Maryland to its fourth straight league tourney crown.

Magalhaes, who ultimately had one year of eligibility with the Terrapins, was instrumental to the Terps' success defensively. He started in all 22 games he appeared in, helping Maryland notch 10 shutouts on the year. The center back from Sao Paulo, Brazil also posted a goal and an assist for Maryland.

Two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection Mael Corboz signed a Homegrown contract with New York Red Bulls. Corboz started in all 23 games as a senior this season, racking up 12 assists and a pair of goals. He scored a league-high 10 goals as a junior in 2014 and was named Big Ten Tournament Most Valuable Offensive Player.

Last season, Dan Metzger and Alex Shinsky were selected in the second and fourth round, respectively, of the MLS SuperDraft, marking the 11th straight season Maryland boasted at least one selection. It was the fourth straight year the Terps had at least one player taken in the first round.
