COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Juniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the eighth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team are two of the top 20 players in the nation to be named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 20 List released Friday.
Maryland is one of four schools with multiple honorees, along with Connecticut, Ohio State and South Carolina. The Big Ten leads all conferences with four players on the list. Click here for the full release.
Both Jones and Walker-Kimbrough were First Team-All-Big Ten honorees last year and both made the All-Big Ten Preseason Team this fall.
The duo leads Maryland in scoring and rebounding. Walker-Kimbrough leads the Terrapins (15-2, 4-1 B1G) with 17.6 points per game, along with 5.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.2 steals. Jones leads the country in field goal percentage (.686) and is averaging 14.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game this year.
The Terps will return home to host No. 24 Northwestern (13-4, 2-3) Sunday at noon at the XFINITY Center.
The Terrapins will be giving away the Tierney Pfirman bobblehead at the Northwestern game. For the giveaways, fans will receive a scratch-off ticket when they enter XFINITY Center and 500 lucky fans will win a bobblehead. Non-winning tickets will include a merchandise discount at the Terrapin Team Shop. Fans with winning scratch off tickets can redeem their ticket for a bobble head in the XFINITY Center Pavilion, located on the ground floor, following the conclusion of the game. The Terps will also welcome all kids 12 and under to shoot hoops on the floor after the game for Kids Court.
