
Terps Host Maryland Basketball Tip-Off Dinner

The Terrapin men's and women's basketball coaches and student-athletes mingled with supporters and fans throughout the evening.
Head coaches Mark Turgeon and Brenda Frese introduced their student-athletes and staff and each concluded by expressing their appreciation to the Terrapin Club Scholarship fund for their generous donations and unwavering support.
"What a great evening," Turgeon said. "The crowd gets bigger each and every year. We sincerely thank you and appreciate all of your support and generosity for all of our student-athletes at the University of Maryland.""Our team is in the midst of a great week of practice. We are working hard - especially on defense, I am just really excited with this group and looking forward to the start of the season."
Frese spoke to the consistent success of the women's basketbal program.
"We are proud of the success and the consistency that we have had here," Frese said. "It's because of the great coaching and support staff that we have at the University of Maryland. We've had a really productive summer and have built some great momentum heading into the season."
"It means a great deal for all of the support you provide to our student-athletes. Thank you for making us a priority at the University of Maryland."
Student-athletes Brionna Jones, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Melo Trimble and Damonte Dodd were on a fun panel to answer questions about their coaches and their teammates.
Chris Knoche from the Maryland Sports Radio Network emceed Wednesday evening's program.
The Terrapin Club Scholarship Fund is the official support organization for Maryland Athletics. The mission of the Terrapin Club Scholarship Fund is to generate private donations to fund the annual scholarship costs for Maryland's student-athletes.
