
Terps Host Saint Peter's for Saturday Matinee

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's basketball team continues its lengthy homestand when it welcomes Saint Peter's on Saturday at noon.

• Michal Cekovsky (16 points) and Jaylen Brantley (14 points) each matched career-highs as Maryland utilized a strong second half to down Howard, 79-56, the last time out. The duo is averaging a combined 17.5 points per game over the last four contests. Maryland posted team season-highs in field goal percentage (.500), free throw percentage (.818) and made three-point field goals (12) against the Bison.
• The Terps are in the middle of their longest homestand of the year (five games). Maryland is 40-3 at XFINITY Center over the past three seasons, including a 6-1 mark this season.
• With two three-point field goals against Howard on Wednesday, junior guard Melo Trimble passed Sarunas Jasikevicius to crack the top 10 in career three-point FGs (137). He needs 18 to jump Walt Williams for No. 9 on the list.
• The Terps have started the last three seasons on a tear, racking up a 9-1 record in each season through 10 games. Maryland was 14-1 to begin the 2014-15 campaign and 15-1 to kick off the 2015-16 season. The Terps are 65-17 over the last two-plus seasons.
• Maryland sits atop the Big Ten Conference with nine wins (as of Dec. 9). Maryland is averaging 16,258 fans per game at XFINITY this season and leads the Big Ten in total home attendance. The Terps paced the Big Ten and ranked fifth nationally in attendance in 2015-16.
• Saint Peter's Director of Athletics Boe Pearman played at Maryland for former head coach Chris Weller from 1981-84. She helped averaged 10.0 points per game and helped the Terrapins to the 1982 Final Four and three ACC titles. A four-year starter, she earned Second Team All-ACC honors in 1984 and was named to the All-ACC Tournament Team in 1982.
