
Dunn Named B1G Player, Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Maryland freshman second baseman Nick Dunn was named Big Ten Player and Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Dunn had a spectacular week, batting .643 (9-for-14) while slugging .786 with an on-base percentage of .700 in four games. He totaled nine hits, including two doubles, and reached base on three walks and two HBPs.
The Sunbury, Pa., native notched four RBIs and scored four times. He batted. 600 with runners in scoring position and .750 with two outs. He also fielded his position well, not committing an error with seven assists. The freshman has a perfect fielding percentage this season.
Dunn moved his team-high average to .417, which ranks sixth in the conference. His OBP of .511 is the fifth-best in the league.
Maryland returns to action Tuesday against Delaware with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m., at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Md.
