
Cowan to Compete in 43rd Annual Capital Classic

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Rising Maryland freshman Anthony Cowan is set to compete in the 43rd annual Capital Classic All-Star game this Thursday, April 28 at Catholic University's DuFour Center. Cowan is one of 12 players selected to play for the Capital All-Stars team, who will face the U.S. All-Stars at 8:00 pm.
Cowan is a four-star point guard recruit from Bowie, Md. who recently wrapped up his senior season at St. John's High School. He was named the Washington Post All-Metro Player of the Year after averaging 20.6 points for the Cadets en route to the team's first WCAC title since 2000. Cowan is currently the 69th ranked recruit via ESPN 100 class of 2016 rankings.
Fellow Terrapins Melo Trimble (Capital All-Stars), Jared Nickens (U.S. All-Stars) and Dion Wiley (Capital All-Stars) are all alumni of the event, competing in the 2014 edition of the game.
The Capital Classic is the longest running high school basketball All-Star game in the country and since 1974 it has been a beacon in the Washington, DC community, showcasing some of the nation's top high school basketball talent. The game has become a steppingstone for many college All-Americans, NBA All-Stars and Pro Basketball Hall of Fame recipients, such as Moses Malone, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Grant Hill, Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Paul and Dwight Howard.
