LINCOLN, Neb. – Sophomore Peyton Wade turned in a solid first day of competition to lead off the weekend for the Terps at the 2016 Big Ten Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Wade got off to a hot start in the heptath, finishing second with a PR in the 100m hurdles (13.89) and first in the high jump (1.74m) to take the lead after two events (1897 points). She later threw 9.01 meters in the shot put and clocked 25.32 in the 200 to finish the day sixth in the field with 3220 points.

Senior Lauren Ball is 14th in the field with 2585 points through four events. The heptathlon will conclude tomorrow with the long jump, javelin and 800 meter dash.      

Sophomore Claudia Ababio finished 4th in her flight in the women's weight throw, clearing 53.16 meters to take 14th in the field. Sophomore Nick Pulli took 17th in the men's hammer, tossing 50.61 meters

Tonight's competition will wrap up with the men's and women's 10k events, before action resumes tomorrow morning at 9:30 CST.
