COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Friends of Maryland Basketball (FOMB) hosted its annual end-of-the-year dinner Wednesday at the Congressional Country Club to celebrate the 2015-16 season.
Stan Goldstein, president of FOMB, welcomed 150 guests by sharing a myriad of the team and individual accolades accomplished in the men's basketball inaugural season in the Big Ten.
Longtime Maryland basketball radio analyst Chris Knoche hosted the two-hour dinner and shared exciting and memorable moments from the 2015-16 season.
Head coach Mark Turgeon introduced his coaching and support staff and thanked the FOMB supporters for their commitment and dedication to the program.
“This is such a special group. When we arrived in May of 2011, I met many of you and you have been with us every step of the way during these past five years…always supportive and behind us,” Turgeon said. “Our 17-1 home record has a lot to do with the fans. The atmosphere and energy in the XFINITY Center was tremendous and we really fed off the energy.
Turgeon also recognized his senior class – Varun Ram, Jake Layman, Rasheed Sulaimon and Trevor Anzmann - for their contributions to a Terps' team that won 27 games and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in 13 years.
