USTFCCA Team Release – USTFCCCA Individual Release
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Maryland women's track and field program was recognized for its academic success last week as the team was named to the All-Academic list by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. In order to receive the distinction and be in the running for Scholar Team of the Year, a team must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.
Maryland was one of 220 women's teams to receive the distinction, as the squad held a team GPA of 3.08. In addition, rising senior Micha Powell and rising sophomore Alexandra Lucki received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for the 2015-16 season.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. The athletes must have also finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event for the indoor season or participate in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds) for the outdoor season.
Powell qualified for both the indoor and outdoor championships during her breakout season for the Terps, while Lucki qualified for her first NCAA Outdoor Championship last spring.
