WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Maryland men's basketball team traveled to Washington, D.C. and spent the day visiting some of the historical sites that the nation's capital has to offer.
Head coach Mark Turgeon and the team visited the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial before spending a few hours touring the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Senior Damonte Dodd, who will graduate this spring with a degree in African American Studies said: "I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience this with my team. It was an educational trip and was something that was great to be a part of."
The team explored different aspects of the museum, which included exhibits about the Tuskegee Airmen, the Civil Rights Movement and popular culture.
"I was excited to go to the museum because I heard a lot about it," junior Jared Nickens said. "I learned a great deal of this history in school, but to see the exhibits first hand was very meaningful. It's a day that I will remember."
