COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The 13th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (2-1) will take on No. 1 Connecticut (2-0) Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the XL Center in Hartford. The Terps-Huskies game will be televised around the world on ESPN, WatchESPN.com and the Watch ESPN app.

This is the seventh meeting between Maryland and Connecticut, all since 2012. Most recently, No. 1 Connecticut won 87-81 in College Park on Dec. 29 last year. Kaila Charles scored 18 points. Maryland cut it to a five-point game with 3:42 to play, but the Terps fell just short.

Connecticut won 63-48 in the teams' only meeting at the XL Center on Dec. 3, 2012.

The Terrapins held off Niagara (0-3), 92-65, Thursday afteroon in College Park. The Terps shot 83 percent from the field (10-12) in the third quarter to pull away. Stephanie Jones led five in double figures with 21 points, Ieshia Small scored a career-high 18 and Charles scored 17.

The Terrapins were picked to finish second in the Big Ten by both the league's head coaches and media panel. Charles was also named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team. Charles, a Glenn Dale, Md. native, earned All-Big Ten Freshman Team honors last year after starting in all 35 games for Maryland. She averaged 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Charles was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List earlier this month as one of 20 of the nation's top shooting guard. Brianna Fraser was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List as one of the nation's top small forwards.
