At 26-1, the Terrapins are off to the best start in school history. The Terrapins are ranked No. 2 in both the AP and the Coaches polls. They were last in the top two of both polls on Jan. 8, 2007 when they held the top spot.
The Terps are 5-4 vs. the Buckeyes. Most recently, Ohio State won both meetings last year. They won 80-71 in College Park on Jan. 2, 2016 and 94-86 in Columbus on Feb. 8, 2016. In the meeting in Columbus, Brionna Jones scored 28 points with 11 boards, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 14 and Kristen Confroy added 13.
Maryland is coming off of an 89-40 win over Wisconsin Thursday in College Park. Walker-Kimbrough led the way with 22 points, Jones added 16 points and 11 boards and Kaila Charles scored 15 points. Blair Watson added 10 points off the bench. The Badgers' 40 points were the lowest the Terps have given up all year.
Walker-Kimbrough was named Big Ten Player of the Week Monday for the second time this year. She was also named Naismith National Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points, 4.5 boards and 4.5 assists in the Terps two wins last week.
Walker-Kimbrough is No. 5 on Maryland's all-time scoring list with 1,980 career points and needs 20 points to become the fifth Terp to reach 2,000. She is No. 8 among Division I active scorers. Walker-Kimbrough's career three-point percentage of 45.1 percent is currently the best in Maryland history ahead of Kristi Toliver's career percentage of 40.8 percent.
Jones is No. 4 on Maryland's rebounding list with 1,116 career boards. She is No. 8 on Maryland's scoring list with 1,747 points and is No. 19 among Division I active scorers. She currently leads the Big Ten with 19 double-doubles this year.
Freshman Destiny Slocum's 156 assists this year are nearing the Maryland freshman record for assists of 171 by Dara Taylor (2010). Slocum also needs to make six threes to top the freshman record of 59 set by Toliver.
Jones is leading the country in field goal percentage (.690) for the second straight year. The Terrapins lead the country in scoring (90.0) and are No. 2 in field goal percentage (.508) and rebounding margin (+16.4). They are third in scoring margin (+28.1) and fourth in assists (20.3).
In Big Ten play, Slocum is leading the league in assists with 7.7 per game and Jones is leading in rebounding (11.4). Slocum is No. 3 among all league freshmen in scoring (11.2). Charles is sixth among Big Ten freshmen in scoring (10.0) and No. 1 in rebounding (5.4). Confroy leads the league in assist/turnover ratio (3.6).
Jones and Walker-Kimbrough are two of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award. Ten women's basketball student-athletes who excel both on and off the court were selected as finalists for the 2016-17 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate basketball. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be classified as NCAA Division I seniors and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

The jerseys of Jones and Walker-Kimbrough will be honored in the rafters of the XFINITY Center immediately after the Terrapins' regular season finale and Senior Day game on Sunday, Feb. 26 at noon vs. Minnesota.
Feb. 26 will also be Shatori Walker-Kimbrough bobblehead day. All fans will receive a scratch-off ticket upon entering the arena and 500 fans will win.
