Terps Fall in Game Two to #5 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Maryland baseball team dropped game two of its three-game set with No. 5 LSU, 14-0, Saturday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium.

The Terrapins (1-4) fell behind early and were unable to gain traction against LSU starter Jared Poche, who tossed eight innings of one-hit ball. Junior Zach Jancarski broke up Poche's no hitter with nobody out in the ninth.

LSU jumped on Maryland starter RHP Taylor Bloom with a pair of runs in each of the first two innings. The Tigers broke the game open with a seven spot in the third, highlighted by six consecutive hits.

The Tigers grabbed another run in the fifth and added two more in the seventh. The game marked the Maryland debut of RHP Elliot Zoellner and the pitching debut of junior Jamal Wade, who tossed two scoreless innings.

Maryland and LSU finish their series Sunday afternoon at noon from Alex Box Stadium. Coverage can be seen on SEC Network + and heard on the Maryland Baseball Network.
