Maryland Wraps Up Weekend at Husker Invite, Armory

The Maryland track and field teams put together a successful weekend at the Husker Invitational and New York Armory Track Invitational Saturday evening, with several Terps setting new season and career-best marks. Maryland will compete in its final regular season meet of the indoor season February 10-11 at the SPIRE Invite in Geneva, Ohio. 

Day One Recap

LINCOLN, Neb. – Senior Catherine Voelpel broke the school record in the 600 meter run, finishing third overall with a time of 1:31.09 on day two of the Husker Invite. The time eclipsed her personal best and the previous program record of 1:31.46 set back in 2013 by Julie Sinkovitz at the Nittany Lion Challenge. Rachelle Alexander set a new personal best in the event with a time of 1:34.77.

Junior Alexandra Lucki had a big day at Bob Devaney Sports Center in the distance events for the Terps, bringing home a pair of second place finishes in the mile and the 3000. The Ontario, Canada native first posted a mark of 4:46.74 in the mile, a little over a second  off her career-best to secure second in the event.

She was then back on the track shortly after to run in the women's 3000 meter race, where she finished in 9:37.34 to take second overall and first among collegiate runners. The time was a new personal best for Lucki.

On the men's side, TJ Bleichner went 1:21.21 in the 600 to finish 10th in the field. Freshman Brady Snelson finished 22nd (1:57.65) andJared Loadolt was 24th (1:59.49).

Triple jump junior Kayla Richardson 12th with leap of 11.83 meters, while freshman Leah Blackall was 19th with 11.42 meters.

Junior Peyton Wade secured a podium finish in the high jump, clearing 1.74 meters to take third overall and second among attached competitors. Freshman Dallyssa Huggins took 11th with a jump of 1.64 meters.

The Terps had a strong finish to the day with runners in the 4x400 relay, starting with a third place finish on the women's side. Meneau, Cooper, Voelpel and Powell combined to run 3:39.55, a season best for Maryland. UMD's “B” squad of Alexander, Baxter, Tucker and Huggins finished 13th in 3:51.18.

On the men's side, Jones, Bleichner, Jahn-Richardson and Miawad posted a mark of 3:16.76 to finish 10th.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Senior Alexa Squirini (5:03.64) and junior Vickie Ajimoko (5:14.09) both posted top-20 finishes in the mile, finishing 10th and 19th respectively as Maryland took on day two of the New York Armory Track Invitational.

Louis Corgliano went 4:22.62 in the mile, finishing 24th in the field. Junior Josh Landsman posted a mark of 1.95 meters in the high jump to tie for seventh in the field.

Sophomore Ryan Scott landed inside the top-30 in the men's 800, crossing the line in 1:59.74. Emily Bracher posted a mark of 2:23.73 in the women's event.

Claudia Ababio and Emma O'Hara were both inside the top-15 in the weight throw, with Ababio (11th) leading the way throwing 16.95 meters. O'Hara notched a 14th place finish with a mark of 16.52 meters.

In the triple jump, Breanna Coleman (11.14m) and Tamir Jacobs (11.00m) finished back-to-back at 19th and 20th
